Department for Opportunities “Class Polish”

Role: Creative (Art & Copy)

The word “polish” is a euphemism popular with hiring managers to describe employees that present or denote middle or upper-class status through accent, mannerisms, behaviour and dress.

Such classism in the workplace has led to a Class Pay Gap, with working-class employees earning £6k less than their more privileged peers, despite having the same role and qualifications.

We needed to confront classist employers and the outdated statements they perpetuate. So we got Fern Brady to pose as a toff flogging an Eton-scented polish that’ll improve an employees chances in the workplace.

Every box came with a cloth detailing the issue and what it’ll take to buff out workplace classism for good.

What good’s a miracle product if you can’t flog it? We got Fern Brady to push Class Polish on the public for £6,000 to highlight the Class Pay Gap.
